Result | Win for Pilgrims by 95 runs |
The start of our 2016 tour of Sussex in our 40th year saw us with a new fixture against Sarisbury Athletic C.C. The Ground looked amazing, far the best ground we have played on for many a year.Wessex Pilgrims batted first with Skipper Paul Rendell and Matt Hollier opening the batting.Runs came steadily for both and after 10 overs they had put on 56-0.It was not until the 16th over that Pilgrims lost thier first wicket with Paul Rendell (18) being bowled.Craig joined Matt at the crease and with runs coming at about 6 and over Matt soon reached his 50. Matt's wicket finally fell in the 23 over scoring 88 runs for himself and taking Pilgrims score onto 120-2. T.C. joined Craig at the crease and kept the run rate going untill T.C. (8) was caught.Paul H(25) and Simon G(19no) both made quick runs batting with Craig before Pilgrims overs ran out with the score on 260-4 and Craig on an unbeaten 81.After a fantastic tea which was enough to feed our travelling supporters as well Pilgrims took to the field.Sarisbury went after the score from the first over but with a touch of luck from Harry we soon had Sarisbury 17-2 off the first 4 overs.Runs came freely as did the wickets until the game finished with Sarisbury on 165-6 after a parnership of 98 between T.Mithenson and K.Hammond. Many thanks to Sarisbury for all the hospitality they showed to us and for the good spirit in which the game was played. Thanks to Jacko for his stints as umpire and to all the travelling support we had.Hopefully we can make this a permanent fixture either as a tour match or just a new Sunday fixture. |
